Kimberly + Michael

With so many different photo sessions taking place this fall, it would be impossible for me to post every single once of them. But every now and then, one stands out to me that is so unique and different - I just have to share it. A few weeks ago I ventured up to NYC to meet Kimberly and Michael, an amazing couple who have done so well working in the city running an artist studio. I know how challenging it can be to make a living in the arts, and Kimberly and Michael have achieved so many well deserved successes by working hard and pursuing their dreams.

I am highly anticipating photographing their wedding next May, which will be designed and coordinated by Colin Cowie. I am sure it will be absolutely wonderful!

We made the most of the rainy day by photographing in and around the loading dock of their studio:

the front entryway worked great as well:

finally it stopped drizzling and we were able to venture outside:

Thank you, Kimberly and Michael for the great conversation ranging from dog photos to your giving spirits. I am thrilled to be photographing your wedding and can't wait for next spring!

    11.29.07 - My Wedding

wedding accessories

With the amount of portraits we I been photographing at the studio lately, I should probably be posting some of our beautiful holiday card designs or our recent sessions in fall foliage. And I'll get to that... I promise... but with the wedding getting so much closer (two months from Sunday!) I have been scouring the internet late at night and early in the morning for great wedding details.

Being that the wedding is in February, I knew I had to get a fantastic jacket to go over my wedding dress. And it had to some something I was going to like being photographed in, because as a wedding photographer in the Northeast I have seen my share of winter brides remove their wedding jackets, shivering - lips purple all while saying "oh, no... I'm fine.. great! take (shiver) the (shiver) photo (shiver). Ok forget it. Can we go inside?" I always try to recommend that brides who are getting married between Nov-April in the Northeast to get a wrap or jacket they really love.

Taking my own advice, I found the perfect Marc Jacobs faux fur jacket on ebay of all places:

It came in this week and is just adorable. It also has this great fun Marc Jacobs blue interior fabric pattern - perfect for my something blue. It's currently hanging in the office closet marked by a 'do not enter' sign created specifically for John.

Next were the shoes. This was tough - if I was going to spend money on shoes, I knew that they needed to be extra special and I would have to be able to wear them again to justify the expense in my mind. So nothing white, or overly bridal-looking. They also needed to be closed-toed keeping in mind my desire to only purchase realistic winter bride attire (see above jacket).

I found the perfect silver pair at Gina London, even though the shoes are called Paris. Actually to be fair, Jess was the one who found them but I'm sure she won't mind me taking credit.

And finally... last weekend John and I were walking around in Phildelphia and stopped by Forever Silver by Erwin Pearl. I found the perfect earrings - they are basically these but studs. There were a lot of selections there in pretty reasonable price ranges.

I can't wait for you to see the rest of the ensemble like the dress, veil and other accessories but sadly it will need to wait just a few more months. Be sure to check back soon for an updated blog post of all the great families - new clients and old ones - that I have had the pleasure of photographing this fall.

Landon

My friend Vanessa Krackel, who owns Two Paper Dolls in Wayne are amongst the many people who are helping John and I make our wedding completely stress free. She has up with the most amazing designs, calligraphy recommendations and helpful service that any bride could ask for. Everything she suggests, I love, which is great because that means I don't have to worry about it! When people ask me if I'm worried the wedding is so close I can say "nope!' with confidence because of people like her.

So of course I just have the best time photographing her little guy Landon each year. I can't believe how much he's grown, and how much he looks like mom every time I see him.

Kim + Roberto: 10.6.07

I'm a little behind these days on wedding updates because of the huge amount of portraits our studio has this month! We are so lucky to have so many amazing clients who constantly refer us to their friends and families, and we are so appreciative of that here at LNP.

One of my favorite things that I see couples do is incorporate their own styles and individuality into their weddings. Kim and Roberto's wedding held last month at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia in Philadelphia are perfect examples of this; they are both architects and have such an artistic eye - throughout their entire wedding I kept being surprised by all the amazing details they incorporated into their special day. Kim and Roberto are also are both amazingly kind people who love their families very much and have a great love for one another.

It was so fun to be part of their day and see it come together. In addition to all the amazing details there was also salsa dancing... A great way to end the night!

So here are the invites that Kim & Roberto HAND MADE themselves using some super secret architect wood engraving machine. I have never seen anything like it:

Kim and Roberto also love to travel

I loved the necklace that Roberto gave Kim as a wedding present

the colors and light were just incredible that day in Philadelphia

On my photo request shoot, Kim asked for photos of all the vendors who have helped her on her wedding. I thought that was so sweet! Here is a photo that my assistant, Alicia, took of me having fun with Kim and Roberto.

The ceremony at the Kimmel center is so neat, it's set up theatre style and the mood is very cinematic.

one of my favorites from the day of Kim + Roberto leaving thier ceremony

The rooftop garden at the top of the Kimmel Center was decorated beatifully with the wooden table numbers and place card settings

These menu cards were the most amazing ones I have ever seen, if for no other reason than they had candy in them!

And finally ending with a fun ring shot of two very unique rings:

Thank you Kim + Roberto for including me in your special day!

    11.05.07 - Personal

i've been showered!

Over the weekend I was showered with some amazing gifts and visits from friends near and far - I feel so fortunate and grateful to have such wonderful friends who worked hard to make this weekend so special.

Over Friday night and Saturday morning several people arrived in town including both Jessica Claire and Jen Dery who flew in from California. We had such a great time catching up, joking around and relaxing a lot. We had several days to catch up on all that we have been up to, and I was so excited to share my upcoming weddings plans. We also talked business (of course) and I made them test out some of my newest product updates for Strategy Avenue which are due to release in early December! I can't wait for them to release, I truly think that they will help people learn more about how to be professional photographers in a easy to understand way.

In order to get me out of the house on Sunday to prepare for the shower, Jen, Jess and I went to go photograph my very special employee's engagement session.

this one is my favorite

and of course we had to play in some leaves

I love this one because it's so "Becca" to me

of course then was also plenty of goofing around during the shoot - here is a photo Jess took of me and Jen

and then three of us (Jess is on the left and Jen is on the right) before heading to the shower

Five of my eight beautiful bridesmaids Jen, Kristy, Me, Jamie, Tracy, and Jess (taken by Marie Labbancz)

There were a lot of laughs and everyone seemed to have a great time.

A huge thank you to Jess and Jen who flew cross country for this special time in my life, as well as to all the bridesmaids who worked so hard to bring everything together. I love you guys!

Katherine & Miller: 09.29.07

It's pretty rare that I don't have an opportunity to meet each couple at some point before the wedding, so walking into Katie and Miller's hotel rooms on September 29th was such a fun adventure. Katie and Miller were funny, witty, and completely wonderful as I would have expected by our hilarious phone conversations. I'm so glad that they humored me and my crazy ideas (like going up on the roof of the Whole Foods parking lot in Philadelphia for photos) throughout their wedding day.

This was also another great wedding with Melody Appel of Innove Event Design who I always love working with and is a joy to have at any wedding. Katie and Miller's ceremony took place at the FUEL (fostering undergraduate exposure on location) house at 3rd and Market , a building made famous by MTV's Real World. FUEL is such a unique space and was perfect for Katie and Miller's free-flowing cocktail style reception dinner.

and a lovely inspiration board for a urban pink and brown arthouse wedding
