06.10.08 - Kids The McDonald Family

Sarah's and Will's weding was one of the first I photographed when I moved to Delaware in May 2003. The couple holds a very special place in my heart, considering that they were willing to take a risk on this brand new, unknown photographer no one had ever heard of. We still keep in touch to this day. Here they are, in married bliss during their first dance at Bellevue mansion at Bellevue State Park in Wilmington:

One of the cool things about doing the kind of photography I do is being able to forge lasting relationships with my clients. Five years after shooting Sarah's and Will's wedding, I found myself in a planning session for taking portraits of their twin boys. I asked them where their toddlers have a really great time. In unison, they said, "The zoo!" So, off we went to the Brandywine Zoo in search of monkeys, donkeys and other curious creatures of the earth.

The goats were so friendly! I think that the boys were hoping to take them home as new pets.

It required major negotiation for the boys to put down the extremely valuable sticks they found on these train tracks long enough for this photo to be taken. (I think it was worth it!)
